Coyote pelt, dry tanned with feet and claws attached. From central region of Montana. Adult male coyote, with heavy late winter fur. Ears, eyes, nose, lips, and paws are prepared for the taxidermy process by a professional.
The groin and front leg arm pit regions display a reddish hue on the fur and skin. This is likely due to early stages of scarcoptic mange, a common canine skin condition causing irritation. As is typical of late season coyote pelts, there are rubbed and missing guard hairs, exposing the dense and soft grayish underfur. Although minimal and not readily apparent, these missing guard hairs may be noticeable by someone with experience in evaluating fur quality. It is important to remember these are wild animals, not farm raised. Therefore, their fur is authentic and exposed to the natural elements of their habitat.
Hide measures 42" in length - nose to base of tail. Tail measures an additional 16" in length. Eye to nose measures 4.25", and circumference at abdomen measures 22". Measurements are taken after the hide has been tanned, and the hide is not stretched while measurements are taken. Once rehydration of the hide occurs, additional stretch can be gained.
Any holes or cuts are repaired on the leather side, and are not visible from fur side.
